ADULT NURSING DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP

The Nursing Degree Apprenticeship offered is the shortened ‘2-year top’ programme. Please note the full 4-year programme is not currently available. The Nursing Degree Apprenticeship (NDA) is a 25month apprenticeship programme the successful completion of which leads to:

The award of a BSc (Hons) · Eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse (Adult).
The award of a level 6 apprenticeship
Employment as a Band 5 Registered Nurse following successful completion of the BSc (Hons) programme and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Apprentices, as employees, undertake off the job learning via theoretical learning and supernumerary placements similar to undergraduate students but have no university fees to pay.

Apprentices will be employed for 37.5 hours a week by a health or care employer partner in the Norfolk and Waveney Health and Integrated Care Partnership. The NDA apprenticeship involves work-based learning, clinical placements and theoretical learning. You will have support in practice and from the university throughout your development.

Leading change and innovation within complex nursing practice
Nursing practice and simulation part 3A
Preparation for registration
Nursing practice and simulation part 3B

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a Foundation Degree in a relevant subject for example, health, care, mental health or equivalent. Applicants will be expected to have attained an overall average of 55% across their previous studies.

GCSE English at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2, or any qualification that is listed on the ESFA approved equivalent qualification list.*
GCSE Math at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2, or any qualification that is listed on the ESFA approved equivalent qualification list.
You will be required to have an enhanced Disclose and Barring Service (DBS) clearance
Occupational Health clearance

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) - Applicants are required to submit an APL portfolio. An APL workshop is offered to every applicant offered a place to ensure that there is sufficient evidence to join the programme.

How do I apply?

The process is employer-led. This means that the opportunity to apply is advertised by employers and not via the university nor via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

Employers will either advertise internally to candidates who already work for them, or externally to new candidates via the NHS Jobs website and once the programme is advertised, applicants will be required to complete an initial Expression of Interest form (EOI). Initial employer shortlisting will be based on the EOI and shortlisted candidates will then be asked to formally apply to the University.
