Dean of Students' Office
The Dean of Students' Office offers staff and students a wide-range of advice and guidance for academic and health issues.

Careers advice is available from our Director of Employability, Dr. Rudy Lapeer, and from the careers centre. Undergraduate students and research staff and students are able to get advice from everything relating to their CV, applying for jobs, and interviews.
Rachael Rose is the contact at the Careers Centre for SCI schools.
Parental, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Leave
The UEA policies relating to parental, maternity, paternity and adoption leave are outlined in the relevant documents available from HR.
Support for Childcare
An on-site Nursery is available to staff and students, as is a family room in the basement of the Elizabeth Fry Building. This is fitted out with a baby changing station, a bottle and food warmer, first aid kit, and a medical bed for rest purposes. To access this room contact the Elizabeth Fry Hub on 01603 597578.
To assist with carer support, employees can request flexible working hours. The University policy is outlined in the Flexible Working Guidelines.
Support and Training
The Centre for Staff and Educational Development runs a large number of courses throughout the year to promote and support good practice. These course are available to all University staff.
- Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship - For outstanding scientists in the UK at an early stage of their research career who require a flexible working pattern due to personal circumstances such as parenting or caring responsibilities or health issues. Female candidates are particularly invited to apply.
- Royal Society Rosalind Franklin Award - This award is made to support the promotion of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
- Daphne Jackson Trust - Daphne Jackson Fellowships help return scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians to their careers after a break of 2 or more years.
- Wellcome Trust Career Re-entry Fellowships - This scheme is for postdoctoral scientists who have recently decided to recommence a scientific research career after a continuous break of at least two years.
- Biochemical Society Stay Connected Bursaries - The "Stay Connected" Bursaries recognize that science moves at a rapid pace, and keeping up with the latest developments is pivotal in returning to a scientific career. They make it easier for people on a career break to remain engaged with the science community and return to work, if they wish.
- L'Oréal UK and Ireland Fellowships For Women In Science - The L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science programme recognises the achievements and contributions of exceptional females across the globe, by awarding promising scientists with Fellowships to help further their research
- British Federation of Women Graduates Scholarships - The British Federation of Women Graduates scholarships are for women who will be in their third year of doctoral studies or part time equivalent at the time when the awards are given out (the autumn of each year).
- Funds for Women Graduates - FfWG offers Foundation Grants to help women graduates with their living expenses (not fees) while registered for study or research at an approved institution of higher education in Great Britain . The criteria are the proven needs of the applicant and their academic calibre.
