Amelia Frizell – Armitage - PhD student working in ENV and the John Innes Centre

Since beginning her PhD in October 2012 Amelia Frizell-Armitage has been pro-active in a wide range of outreach and public engagement activity; volunteering to help journalists communicate and represent science in the media, talking to and consulting with local wheat breeders about her research and engaging with local schools by taking part in science fairs and student visit days. Amelia was awarded a New Media Fellowship with the Global Plant Council in recognition of her ability to use social media to engage with policy makers, the agricultural industry as well as the general public.

Amelia passed her PhD viva in May and graduates in July 2016.

Amelia is currently teaching at The Brilliant Club as Teaching and Learning Officer and coordinating the Nuffield Foundation’s Research Placements Scheme for Greater London and Surrey.
