An internship can be an excellent way to trial a student or graduate before hiring them permanently.

They can be part or full-time, and range from short to long term contracts.

How UEA internships work

Our interns provide vital support on projects, and many accept roles at their host company on completion of their internship.

We work with you to ensure that the hiring process is simple. We can advertise your position, or connect you with a UEA student you already know.  You can choose between two approaches to internships:

  • We can employ the interns, and invoice you for the cost. As a Living Wage employer, we pay at least £9 an hour, with an additional charge for admin. Exact costs vary depending the length of internships, but an eight-week placement can cost as little as £3,000 plus VAT.
  • You can employ the interns directly through PAYE. We'd advise paying the Living Wage or higher to secure top talent.

Employers are consistently impressed with the tenacity and dedication of our students. And we can help you find and access funding that allows small and medium enterprises to recruit student talent.
