Working in collaboration with our research colleagues in the School of Language and Communication Studies, the broad aim of our research is to enhance understanding of linguistic, historical and literary transformations of human cultures and communities through our study of the United States.
Our researchers explore transnational and global issues through four research groups, which are organised around interdisciplinary conceptual themes:
- Intercultural and interdisciplinary studies
- Global and transnational communication
- Representation and identity studies
- Translating, interpreting and border-crossing
The researchers in these groups collaborate with universities throughout the UK and the US, and across the globe. We are committed to creating and working on innovative interdisciplinary research projects that emphasise knowledge exchange, partnerships outside the academic sphere and public engagement and awareness-building.
