1)            To oversee the design and monitoring, and evaluation of impact, of UEA’s approach to ensuring widening access and participation, inclusive education delivery and equality of opportunity for UEA students.

2)            To set UEA’s strategic approach to meeting its widening access and participation commitments across the student lifecycle including UEA’s five yearly Access and Participation Plan and monitoring regimes as set by the Office for Students. 

3)            To consider and monitor implementation of UEA’s Inclusive Education Policy.

4)            To monitor UEA performance in terms of gaps between different student characteristics and/or in comparison to the sector on key metrics including non-continuation, student experience and engagement levels, academic performance and progression to work or further study. 

5)            To monitor an agreed set of key performance indicators and performance indicators tracking the impact of UEA’s strategic approach and in terms of ‘what works’ in addressing gaps for underrepresented or disadvantaged student groups.

6)            To consider implications of UEA, sector and policy changes on providing inclusive education at UEA including any specific implications for, or impacts on, students from underrepresented groups.

7)            To consider cost/benefit and impact of major initiatives to meet UEA’s Access and Participation commitments, including delivery of Outreach and inclusive and tailored student support approaches; and to support the implementation of UEA’s Inclusive Education Policy.

8)            To monitor the impact of UEA policies, regulatory frameworks and Codes of Practice on academic standards and the student experience from the perspective of widening access and participation, inclusive education and equality of opportunity; and to ensure that remedial action is taken where the outcomes do not meet the University’s requirements or those of external regulatory bodies (including those relating to disability and physical access to buildings).

9)            To consider and report annually on matters concerning inclusive education, widening participation and equality of opportunity relating to students at UEA.
