Scheme launched to help employers with graduate recruitment
Fri, 08 Mar 2013
A new scheme is being launched by the University of East Anglia to help employers in the region recruit business and management graduates.
The aim of the Graduate Trainee Management Scheme is to offer employers a simple, straightforward route for hiring graduates without having to invest in an expensive recruitment process. Each of the graduates will take part in a rigorous recruitment training programme before being shortlisted by UEA's Norwich Business School for an interview with the employers.
Professor Paul Dobson, head of Norwich Business School, said: "In this period of economic hardship we know many organisations understand the benefits of employing graduates but the resources required to successfully recruit them can be a deterrent. The aim of this scheme is to simplify the recruitment process and help employers find a graduate who fits best their particular needs."
Working closely with the school, employers will be able to specify the type of graduate they require, ensuring that a good match is made for both them and the graduate. Employers will have to offer graduates a contract of at least nine months with a minimum salary of £18,000 pa pro rata.
NHS Norfolk is one of the first employers to take advantage of the new scheme. Anna Dugdale, chief executive of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Norwich Business School to offer opportunities to enable these talented graduates to contribute to the service we provide to the people of Norfolk."
Employers who take part in the scheme can benefit from working with graduates who have specialised in marketing, accounting, finance, supply chain management and human resources. Staff from Norwich Business School will meet each employer individually to explain the scheme and discuss their individual requirements.
Norwich Business School will be exhibiting at Norfolk Chamber of Commerce's Opportunities 2013 event at Norwich City Football Club on March 14. It will be an opportunity for employers to talk to staff, discuss the scheme in detail and learn more about the graduates taking part.
