With over 60,000 small to medium businesses in East Anglia, there are countless opportunities for UEA graduates who want to stay in the county.

Gateway to Growth is a project run by CareerCentral and provides additional support for UEA graduates who have decided to stay in the region but who are struggling to find the right opportunity for them.

This support comprises:

  • 1-1 appointments with our Graduate Development Officer. These are 45 minutes and give you the chance to discuss anything and everything career-related that you need advice and guidance on. These are bookable on Tuesdays or Thursdays with some evening appointments available. To book an appointment, call 01603 593452 or email career.central@uea.ac.uk.

  • Grad skills sessions. The specific content of these monthly sessions will vary but they will start with an hour workshop, to help with areas such as improving your job search, applications and interviews. This will be followed by ‘action learning’, a chance to join forces with other UEA graduates and an expert facilitator to identify and work on solving the problems that you’re facing in your first years after graduation. The first session ran in January and details of the next session will be available shortly.

  • LinkedIn Learning access. We've partnered with LinkedIn Learning to provide you with exclusive access to on-demand courses in loads of areas, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, interview skills, project management and teamwork skills. You can request a 6-week licence and can complete as many courses as you like within that time frame. Check out the courses on offer and request your licence.

  • Podcasts. These bi-monthly podcasts will cover a wide-range of careers related topics which will be discussed by careers professionals, recent UEA graduates and industry specialists. The first three podcast episodes have now been launched! Listen to our Podcast on SoundCloud.

  • Graduate Assistance Fund. This fund has been developed to enable eligible graduates to apply for a fund of up to £500 to support initial interactions with SMEs in the region. The G2G Assistance Fund seeks to support reasonable expenses incurred in participating in a range of employability activities such as; interview expenses, travel costs or equipment for home working. To find out more about it and whether you’re eligible, please see this form.

If you’re not a local graduate we still have loads of support available for you. You can access CareerCentral’s services for up to three years post-graduation, including 1-1 appointments, our full programme of events and workshops and loads of online resources via GradCentral.
