WHY CHOOSE SALZBURG?

Paris Lodron University of Salzburg was established in 1622 and currently has around 18,000 students. The university teaches a range of subjects, with buildings in the Old Town and a more modern UniPark a 10 minute walk away. Many courses are taught in English and as Salzburg is very popular with tourists, most locals speak English too so it is possible to get by without knowing the local language. German Language Course are available for those wanting to brush up on their skills though. The International Relations Office runs a Buddy Network to link incoming students with local students and is there to support Study Abroad students throughout their journey.

Salzburg is know for being a postcard-perfect Baroque style city in Austria. It is Mozart's birthplace and the setting for Sound of Music. The 4th largest city in Austria is hugely popular with tourists as well as being a skiiing and wintersports haven in winter. The old city is picturesque and somewhere you can safely stroll round, stop for coffee and cake and shop. Just outside the old town is Augustiner Brewery, the biggest beer tavern in Austria. Founded by monks 400 years ago, it's a uniquely Austrian experience to go here, drink beer from steins and eat bretzel and sausages. Beyond the city are beautiful mountains, salt mines and lakes to explore. Munich is less than 2 hours away on the bus.
