As well as a multitude of music venues, there are annual arts and comedy festivals. The city is also a huge sporting city and home to Aussie Rules football, the Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Open. For those who don't want the heat of Queensland and New South Wales, Melbourne offers a more temperate Australian experience. Locals joke that you can experience all 4 seasons in a day due to the variable weather.
