WHY CHOOSE HKUST

HKUST is a dynamic, international research university.  Since its official opening in October 1991, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has established itself as an intellectual powerhouse, energizing the community's transformation into a knowledge-based society, and securing a place on the academic world map in record-breaking time.

An innovator in research and teaching, HKUST is the only science and technology research university in Hong Kong, and the only one to offer an all-PhD faculty. Its groundbreaking work in science, engineering, business, humanities and social science is successfully pushing back the boundaries of the information age.  Such advances are assisted by the University's top-class facilities.

The university campus occupies a 58-hectare site which is divided into a several sections: the Academic Building, S.H. Ho Sports Hall, student halls, outdoor sports facilities, the University Centre, apartments, staff quarters and the President's Lodge. Constructed along the slope of the surrounding hills, Port Shelter is visible from virtually every building on campus. Arranged in cascades, the buildings are connected by walkways and balconies that offer a spectacular view of the South China Sea.

Beyond campus, Hong Kong is yours to explore. The region has great public transport so from campus you can reach the bustling city and other nature spots. In the city, there are markets and restaurants to enjoy alongside skyscrapers and traditional temples. Outside the built-up city, Hong Kong is known for hiking trails, nature and beaches. Hong Kong has something for everyone while also being a gateway to the rest of Asia. Macau is a ferry ride away and Hong Kong aiport can take you to other Asia countries.
