Some opinions and comments (last update 22/09/2011)

I did not use to have anything about colonisation on this page because I thought everybody had understood that colonisation=occupation and in particular that everybody's heart cries at the horror that white people commited against the black ones in colonising and exploiting Africa. Sadly, I have learned that this understanding is far from universal and that our society is suffocating in racism. I wish I could wash out the sins and heal the wounds, I wish I had the power to open the borders.
To want to reinstate the communism, is to not have a brain. Not to regret the communism, is to not have a heart. (Vladimir Poutin -if I ever thought I would quote him!)
In March 2010, The Parliament of Serbia apologised to the people of Srebrenica for any role that Serbia had in the genocide on 11 July 1995 in Srebrenica. May the civilised example of Serbian democracy on the occasion of this apology serve as an example to those countries, such as Denmark, that have not shown the same level of reflection on their own role. Apologies will not bring back the dead but will at least show that lives count in the so called backyard of Europe the same way that they do in its frontyard-so called.

"The tragedy of Srebrenica will forever haunt the history of the United Nations"

Kofi Annan (Seventh secretary-general of the United Nations, 2001 Nobel Peace Prize.)

`No democracy is immune to an authoritarian overturn, not even in ...'

I support:

  • The communist party in the opposition
  • United Europe
  • Laique education
  • The idea of en engaged intellectual
  • I am against:

  • The communist party in the majority
  • Fortress Europe
  • War in Iraq, war in Lybia
  • Any mixing of church and state, especially in schools
  • I regret:

  • The disolution of Yugoslavia
  • I boycott:

  • The state of Georgia, for having executed Troy Davis, a man who most likely did not do what he was accussed to have done anyway. Just another black man at a wrong place at a wrong time. The state of Texas for being the leader in the number of executions. I boycott you Georgia and Texas, and other states that have the death penalty, and will not change this until you stop being racist and until you stop the death penalty. I am afraid that your record in these matters makes me believe that I will not soon be going to a conference to Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio or Austin.
  • National Blood Service, for for refusing blood from gay men. Dear NBS, it would be much more to the point to state that those who are in any danger of having had an activity that could lead them to contract HIV should abstain from giving blood. Singling out 'men who had ever had sex with another man' is beside the point (and excludes a large portion of the male population!) UPDATE 08/09/2011: only half-boycott these guys. Now they have changed their story to accepting blood from gay men who abstained from sex for one year (a large group I am sure :-)
  • I believe:

  • In freedom, as well as in Sartre's philosophy of the freedom as the ultimate responsibility.
