Current Research Interests
I am currently studying the input of nutrients to surface ocean waters from the atmosphere. The nutrient that I am primarily interested in is iron, but because marine productivity is strongly influenced by the balance between nutrients I also study nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon. Some of my recent work in this area has been done under the Atlantic Meridional Transect Consortium Project, and I also work closely with colleagues at the IfM-GEOMAR, Kiel. See my iron page and the group's Atlantic transects page for further details.
I am also interested in the biogeochemical cycling of iodine, particularly the biological influences on iodine speciation in the oceans and the fate of iodine in the atmosphere.
