We currently have 2 studentships available: The links will take you to the Environmental Sciences Ph. D. Studentships pages, where you will find brief project descriptions and full details on how to apply. Further information on these projects can be obtained from Tim or Alex. We study the biogeochemical cycles of nutrients and trace elements in oceanic, estuarine and atmospheric environments. We are interested in improving our understanding of the distribution, speciation and transport processes of these elements. Some of our efforts go towards understanding natural cycles, since we cannot begin to assess human impacts on our environment until we have this understanding. We know that human activities, such as fossil fuel combustion and agriculture, have affected our rivers, coastal waters, the atmosphere and rainwater. We therefore also investigate the perturbations these anthropogenic processes have had on the natural cycles.
