Grant N. Wheeler, Ph.D.

Born and brought up in Brighton, U.K.. Undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at King's College, University of London, including a sandwich year at the Advanced Drug delivery Research Unit, Ciba Geigy, Horsham (Ref.1,2,). Postgraduate studies at the N.I.M.R. in Mill Hill, London, U.K. with Dr. Tony Magee on the cell and molecular biology of desmosomes (Ref,3,4,5,6,7). Postdoc with Prof. Richard Hynes at the M.I.T., Cambridge, MA, U.S.A. studying cytoskeletal interactions of integrins (Ref. 11). Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the lab of Prof. Birgitte Lane, University of Dundee (Ref. 9), U.K. Postdoctoral Research Associate and honorary lecturer in the lab of Dr. Stefan Hoppler, University of Dundee (Ref. 8,10,12). Appointed Lecturer at University of East Anglia, Norwich, England. Starting 11 May 2001.

Muhammad oicture

Born in El-Minia, Egypt. Undergraduate studies in Zoology at El-Minia University, Egypt. Postgraduate M.Sc. studies in Embryology at El-Minia University. Ph.D at the University of Nottingham, England with Dr. Paul Scotting on the role of Sox3 during neurogenesis from epibranchial placodes. Also, I had some interest in studying the role of other Sox genes during chick embryo development. Postdoc with Dr. Grant Wheeler at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England. Starting April, 2002. I am currently interested in studying the role of frizzled genes and cell signalling during the development of Xenopus embryo.

Born and brought up in Sambalpur, Orissa, India. Undergraduate studies (B.Sc Hons.) at GM College, Sambalpur University, in Zoology, Chemistry & Botany and was the 'Best-Graduate' of his year (1995). Finished his M.Sc (with Indian National Scholarship) in Lifesciences at School of Lifesciences, Sambalpur University where he stood first in his class of 1997 and did his summer project at TIFR, Bombay in Dr. Veronica Rodrigues lab (All India Summer Research Fellowship funded by Jawharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India). Then went on to do a Masters in Molecular Genetics with British-Chevening Scholarship at University of Leicester where he secured the Nycomed-Amersham Prize and did his project on gap-junction protein, Connexin 43, with Dr. Catriona Moorby at Centre for Mechanisms for Human Toxicity, Leicester. After a year at the University of Calgary has started a PhD at UEA.
