The Elizabeth Fry BuildingConference Aims

Over the last decade researchers have made great advances in conceptualising and understanding children’s lives and children’s wellbeing after divorce or separation. However there have been few opportunities for researchers from different disciplines and different countries to meet together. The aim of the conference therefore is to bring together researchers from psychology, sociology, family studies, demography, social work, socio-legal studies and other disciplines who all share a common research interest in children and divorce. The conference will be a unique opportunity for distinguished and emerging researchers to meet face-to-face to share work in progress and to shape the future research agenda.

Format

The format for the conference has been designed to maximise the scope for the exchange of ideas and dialogue. The conference will run for four days starting on Monday evening with an opening plenary in the medieval Norwich Cathedral and ending on Thursday with the conference dinner in the Norman Foster designed Sainsbury Centre. In between times each day will be devoted to morning plenary presentations from internationally-recognised researchers, multidisciplinary or multi-method panels in the afternoon and early evening poster sessions. Attendance will be limited to 100 people in order to ensure quality opportunities for interaction among participants.
