Due to current developments around the COVID-19 pandemic we have made the difficult decision to postpone our promotion of outbound summer study programmes and have closed all applications.
Details regarding future programmes will be released on these pages later this year and emailed directly to those who registered their interest for summer 2020. Please email us with any queries.
Study abroad this summer and develop your cultural confidence, discover different ways of thinking and make friends with other students from across the globe.
Summer study abroad is the ideal opportunity to live in another country for a short time and gain a wealth of skills to enhance your academic and employability. Many of our exchange partner universities offer short term programmes offering academic modules, language courses and cultural experiences. This is your chance to make the most of your summer break, taking a valuable and exciting experience abroad.
To support students with the costs to undertake a placement abroad, UEA Study Abroad has a range of funding opportunities to provide some financial assistance. Click here to find out about more.
Summer study opportunities are open to all students and ideal if you want to gain a taster experience of living and studying in another country. Whether you want to gain your first international experience, adapt to living in another culture or learn from another perspective to enhance your studies, this is a great opportunity to have a short, enriching experience.
Studying abroad will build your CV, to demonstrate you can organise travel, manage a budget and adapt to different environments, as well as boosting your confidence to take that next step after university.
A shorter programme can be easier to budget for and to fit within the academic break, summer employment and other commitments at home. Students will be guided throughout the application process by UEA Study Abroad and in partnership with the host summer school university.
Summer study abroad opportunities can be particularly suitable for:
- Students with disabilities;
- Students who have home commitments and are unable to study abroad for a longer period (e.g. family and caring responsibilities, part time job, etc.);
- Students who want to gain confidence to travel alone and experience a new culture;
- Students who want to gain key transferrable skills in a meaningful way during the vacation.
