When will I hear about my accommodation allocation?

Can I send luggage in advance?

We strongly advise students not send luggage in advance as the University does not have secure storage facilities. Once you have arrived at UEA, you can arrange to have some extra belongings sent to you. You should make sure that any parcels are clearly labelled with your UEA/Norwich address.

Is family accommodation available?

UEA owns and maintains 46 two-bedroom, centrally-heated houses, to let to UEA students who have children. Many of these houses are on campus, and all properties are within easy access of schools, shops, public transport and other amenities. For further information please visit the Accommodation page.

When will I get my email account?

Your email account is set up as part of the pre-arrival registration task. For further information on IT please visit the Information Services pages.

When and where do I complete registration?

Completion of registration will take place after you arrive at the University. Registration events are listed on the appropriate new student web pages and full details will be made available through the Blackboard virtual learning environment once you have completed the online registration task. For further information please visit the Registration pages.

Is there an international student orientation programme?

Where will my room key be if I arrive late?

If you arrive outside the designated arrival times (see above link) you should go to the Security Lodge on Campus, which is open 24 hours a day, and the staff there will be able to assist you. Please bring your accommodation confirmation email or some form of identification confirming your name such as a bankcard or a driving licence.

How do I find out about parking on campus?

What are the tuition fees and how do I pay them?

When will student loans be paid?

If you have applied for financial assistance from your Local Authority via the Student Loans Company in good time, you can expect the first instalment of your loan to appear in your bank account three to five working days after you complete the required Academic Registration process at UEA. When do lectures begin?

Some Schools begin lectures on the first week of term, but with induction events included in the first week’s timetable. Others only have induction in Week 1 and teaching starts in Week 2. Please check with your School for details.

Will I get a Council Tax Exemption form?

If you are a full time student you will receive a council tax form when you start university, this will cover you for the length of your course. This will be given to you at Registration in your school of study.

Who do I contact about visa problems?

You should contact the International Student Advisory Team in the Dean of Students' Office. Further information can be found by visiting the Visa Information pages.

When do I get my timetable?

Information about your timetable will be provided to you at Registration.

How do I get my child into the UEA Nursery?

Is the Sportspark free?

All full-time UEA students will be given a free Educational User Card by the University, for the Sportspark. This will provide free entry to the Sportspark and the lowest level of activity charges. On arrival at UEA you will be able to have a look around the Sportspark and access the facilities by giving your name at the Sports Reception. Once you have registered at the University and received your campus card, you will need to call in at the Sportspark Reception to activate this card for use in the Sportspark as your Educational User Card. Where do I get a letter to present to the Bank?

Bank letters are provided by your Learning and Teaching Service or the Postgraduate Research Office (PGRO, PPE Service).

Do I need insurance?

The University carries buildings insurance including student residences. Personal possessions of all new residents will be automatically covered by Endsleigh study bedroom insurance. The cost is a one-off charge will be applied to student accounts during the first few weeks of the autumn semester. This covers residents for the full duration of their licence period. Conditions apply and full details will be provided with the accommodation contract. Occupants of family houses are not covered under this mandatory insurance and will need to make their own arrangements for personal possessions cover. The University also provides Travel Insurance for students travelling abroad on University business (e.g. field trips). However, this must be pre-arranged by your UEA School of Studies or Centre with the Finance Division. International students are advised to check on their eligibility for National Health Service (NHS) cover and medical insurance. Information can be found in the International Students Handbook
