Pakistani Student Ambassador
Hey! My name is Aimen Mobin and I’m a third year Business Management (NBS) student. I initially kicked off my journey at UEA with a year 1 Diploma in Business from INTO UEA which is located on the main campus especially catering to international students.
While applying to UEA, I thoroughly checked out its website and its facilities, ranking and campus are what drew me to the university the most. Right after arriving on campus I instantly became fond of this place. UEA literally has superb facilities- such as an amazing Sports Park with an Olympic sized pool, a huge library that’s accessible 24/7, a student union shop that has all the essentials that you may need and lots of different restaurants and cafes on campus! There is also traditional and Halal food available at the INTO campus and the student union shop on campus, which are quite pocket friendly (and taste pretty good too!).
UEA has so much to offer. There is a separate department and building for each subject and the teachers and staff on campus are very friendly and supportive. There are over 200 societies and clubs on campus such as the music society and salsa society as well as societies for every country and subject of interest. With so much going on you’ll never feel dull or too homesick. I personally love socialising at various society events but I also love taking a walk or sitting by the stunning lake on campus!
I stayed on campus in my first two years and I’m living off campus this year. Living on and off campus both have their perks (read my blog on UEA’s accommodation for more details).
But most importantly other than UEA itself, the city Norwich is one my favourite parts about studying here too. It’s a beautiful city with a historic aesthetic and modern twist to it. There are some really pretty attractions here to see such as the Castle, Cathedral and The Forum, as well as tons of cinemas, shops, clubs, eateries and more! My personal favourite area in Norwich is Riverside.
It’s a major plus point that Norwich is just 1 hour and 45 minutes away from London by train so I’m able to meet my friends studying there very easily (cheap train and bus tickets are always available).
I have become quite attached to both UEA and Norwich and I’m pretty sure even after I graduate from here I will definitely be visiting this place again! My experience in UEA has been amazing so far and I hope yours is too!

Pakistan: Inam - Accounting and Finance
Studying at a university is an experience which everyone should remember. It refines a person, and gives them the opportunity to explore themselves. Hi, my name is Inam, and on behalf of the University of East Anglia, welcome!
At UEA, there is something for everyone. For instance, I find my course to be the highlight of my stay. I study Accounting and Finance, and I chose this course not only because of the strong choice of modules it consisted of, but also because of the exemptions it provides from the professional bodies, such as ICAEW. Many modules are very relevant, with training provided in Microsoft Office packages, and an array of free choices to choose from during the later years.
The University also provides a lot of attraction points for students who would like to socialize with their friends and course mates. There are societies of various interests run by the Student Union, which can be joined by everyone on their choice. The Union also provides outlets for group activities, such the Union Bar, The Shop, and the LCR, which hosts various events on a weekly basis. Apart from that, the University provides a wide range of outlets for catering and social purposes.
UEA itself is one of the top universities in the UK and the world. Recently, Times Higher Education declared UEA the 1st for its Student Experience. There are many facilities for students who would like to benefit from them, such as a 24 hour library, a wide range of IT operated areas, various choices of student accommodation, which can be taken by international students for their entire period of stay. The University also supports students of various faith groups, with a Multiple Faith Centre and a mosque located on campus to supports its students.
Spread across 4 faculties and 28 departments, there is something for everyone to choose from. Free choice modules provide the added flavour to one's University learning, and various teaching methods such as lectures, seminars, labs and workshops enhance the learning experience.
Norwich itself is very quiet and calm. It is an inexpensive city, with many attractions, dining places and shopping malls. Norwich also hosts its fair share of historical sights for tourism. In addition, it has a direct transport connection with London for anyone who wants to have a day trip.
Choose UEA, and have an experience of a lifetime you would not regret! (Student Ambassador 2013/14)
