Hello, my name is Janice Wysynski and I am an MPharm Integrated Master of Pharmacy student in UEA. I chose to study at UEA because UEA School of Pharmacy is one of the best in the UK and it has always been the top of National Student Survey for student satisfaction. Also, I like the innovative teaching techniques used in the School of Pharmacy that enable the students to gain hands-on experience of real working challenges and develop the skills required in the real working environment right from the start.

I enjoy studying at UEA because there is a lot of support available when I need it. For example, I can easily contact the lecturer if I am struggling with my study. All of the lecturers are very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. I am also assigned to an adviser whom I can always turn to whenever I need any help.

In addition, there is Career Central on the campus that I can pop in if I have any queries with CV and job application. Another thing that I enjoy about studying at UEA is there are a lot of opportunities in the university that I can apply to in order to develop myself. For example, I have an opportunity to be a student representative of my year, which then can help me to improve my communication skill.

UEA has a great social life because there are many societies and clubs that the students can join. I myself have joined some societies such as Indonesian Society, Malaysian Society, Pharmacy Society, and British Red Cross. Through joining the societies, I meet a lot of local and/or international students and make a lot of new friends. UEA itself has a lot of excellent facilities that I really enjoy. One of them is the library that is open 24/7, which then allows me to go in whenever I need to. Another excellent facility is Sportspark, which is currently the biggest indoor sports centre in Britain and boasts an extensive range of activities. There are other facilities in campus that I find really useful, such as bank, café, shop and laundrettes.

Not only UEA, I also love Norwich because it is a very nice historical city. It is also one of the safest cities in the UK, which makes it a really good place to stay and study. It has great shopping centres and lots of restaurants serving delicious food from almost all around the world. In addition to this, the city is easily accessed by bus from UEA as the bus service runs throughout the day and most of the night.

To put it in a nutshell, studying at UEA is one of the most exciting experiences that I have had in my life.

My name is Nissi Kristo and I’m a Pharmacy student here at UEA. Initially, I came here for a Foundation year at INTO so I could adapt to UK's education system and the British culture. A family friend recommended UEA as Norwich is known to be one of the safest cities in the world and so it was the ideal place for an introduction to a new country. Gradually, I fell in love with the community, the people and the fact that nature surrounds the whole campus. UEA’s ranking for my chosen course has always been within the top 15 in the UK and hence, that solidified my decision to come study here.

Pharmacy is quite an intense course but the support from the lecturers and fellow students is incredible. If I ever need help, I know who to contact without hesitation or fear of judgment. The library on campus is open 24/7 so it's become my sanctuary for when I need to focus and get work done. Having said that, I love being able to study with a view so you'll most likely find me in front of the huge windows facing the campus broad.

The university has been a great platform to expand my perspective, skills and work experience. The student population is so diverse and multicultural which opened my eyes to the world. I've gotten to know most of my friends through societies where we bond through similar interests. In terms of experience, the CareerCentral and Student's Union on campus offer various job opportunities which are suitable for students. Through them, I've found work I'm genuinely interested in which benefits me for my future career.

You might be thinking how does one have fun in a small town like Norwich. Well there’s quite a range of options that you could choose from. There’s bowling and trampoline in the Riverside, laser-tag and late-night karaoke in the city, not to mention the numerous gigs in UEA’s LCR every week. Getting to the coast is very simple as well. Buses going to Cromer or Great Yarmouth are available every day for a short escapade to the beach. Plus, London is just a few hours away, while our closer neighbours Cambridge and Ipswich are an hour away! I prefer walking around the Riverside and checking out the new games they have at the arcade.

All in all, Norwich is an amazing city filled with beauty and history. A bit further from the city is a charming university, University of East Anglia, with it’s distinct lake within campus grounds.

Indonesia: Royce - Business Finance and Economics

I am Royce Jonathan Salim, an Undergraduate student who studied Business Finance & Economics in UEA. I have always been interested about Finance and Economics as they allow me to understand the impacts of government's policy and financial market trading in everyday life. The first reason I chose to study in the UEA Economic School is because it is ranked 4th out of all English mainstream university Economics departments for overall satisfaction in 2013 National Student Survey. The second reason is the wide-range optional modules accessible for me. So in my final year, I was be able to choose from foreign language to various specific modules, such as supply chain management and option pricing and financial risk management.

Apart from the academic excellence, UEA has a magnificent campus area and a very sociable student atmosphere, which is why it is the first in the UK in terms of student experience. My favourite spot would be the vast park and lake area surrounding the university. It is a good idea to go around the campus for refreshing after frustrated of studying. Joining societies to be able to make a lot of friends is also essential. Last year, I joined four societies, including Indonesian society, which I enjoyed so much. This year, I joined even more! The exciting thing about joining a society is that you make a lot of locals and international friends, which enables you to learn about other cultures and other countries!

Even though I lived on campus, which I found to be so convenient, I still travelled to Norwich to do some shopping and sight seeing. I never found going to the city troublesome because the public transport system is so convenient in a way that I always enjoyed my visit there. Norwich is indeed a small beautiful city in which historical places, like Norwich Castle and Cathedral lie on. But it is also not a bad idea bring your friends to town for movies, bowling and even football match!

Last but not least, the student support here was so beneficial and helpful. I have found many great supports from UEA during my study, especially the Hub. There was always a variety of support available if you seek for them in UEA. In addition, I was assigned one advisor to turn to if I have any issues in my study so that they can be solved.

In brief, I was grateful that I chose UEA for my one in a lifetime opportunity and I really enjoyed it!
