Meet Your Ambassador Meet Your Ambassador

Brazilian Student Ambassador

Hello! My name is Alice Viana and I am an undergraduate at UEA’S Business Management course.

To be honest, when I finished high school I had no idea of what I wanted to study in college, I just knew I wanted to see the world. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to travel and realised that it did not matter where I was, one thing I could be sure: There would be a McDonalds or a Starbucks, and I would be “safe”. That was when I knew I wanted to take on a business course, because globalisation has allowed companies to integrate different cultures, and most importantly, people.

Where would be a better place to learn business and gain international experience than the United Kingdom? UK universities attract thousands of international students every year mainly because they are able to combine great academic teaching with amazing international social experience.

UEA is a perfect place to enjoy both a great academic structure, with modern facilities and great supportive teacher and staff, and a thrilling social life. Norwich is an interesting city, where a little bit of everything can be found, from historical sights to cool contemporary stores and events.

Being an international student is scary and exciting at the same time. Moving far away from home can be hard to many, especially if you are used to the warmth of Brazilians and the weather. The university knows this and has a whole international team that offers great support every step of the way. Our ambassador’s team is formed by UEA students from all over the world, and is dedicated to help with any queries.

So, if there are any questions you would like to ask me, do not hesitate to ask! Feel free to contact me through the Facebook link above or send an email to brazilianstudents@uea.ac.uk. I look forward to hearing from you!

Oi!

STUDENT STORIES STUDENT STORIES

Brazil: Jose - MBA Strategic Carbon Management

I am Jose Zloccowick and I studied for an MBA in Strategic Carbon Management. Two key reasons underlined my decision to apply to UEA. Firstly, the reputation the university has for its Environmental Sciences' research and teaching. Secondly, the unique approach of the intricate relationship between business and environment provided by the MBA.

Since the application period I noticed the high level of commitment of the university with their students. All my emails were quickly replied and the application process was easily understandable. Once I arrived I noticed that it would be a fabulous journey. I had one week of course induction which showed and explained how the university facilities and systems work.

The availability of UEA community is an asset of the university. All the lecturers, coordinators and staff that I contacted were very accessible and supportive. All the guidance that you need with course works, language issues and even job applications are offered by UEA. This support not only makes you feel welcome but also encourages you to develop further studies and to engage into new challenges.

Hobbies and social life are also an important part of students' life at UEA. Through the several societies and clubs offered by the Student Union, the student can find what best suits him/her. These clubs and societies cover all sorts of interests, from sports and country-specific societies to topic-specific clubs such as politics and environmental issues. Last year I travelled with the UEA Surf Club and I not only had a lovely experience but also met new friends.

The life in Norwich is perfect for university students. This medium-size city offers as much entertainment as any big city but with the advantage of a walking distance between them. If you are living on Campus you barely need to go out as you can find all the facilities such as Shops, Bank, Medical centre, Sports Park, Cafe and Pub. Living off Campus is not a challenge as buses to UEA are available almost every 5 min from the Rail Station. Norwich city centre is charming and full of historical attractions, restaurants and pubs. It is very handy for relaxing after long days of study and hard working.

You can also contact Alice, our Brazilian student ambassador, to ask about life at UEA.
