Studentships

The university offers a number of studentships each year to successful PhD applicants.  For more information on the studentships that are currently available, please visit: www.uea.ac.uk/ssf/studentships.

Current Students

Attending conferences

Students should discuss attending conferences and archive visits etc with their supervisors initially, not least because supervisors may know if funds are available in their School of study. The Graduate Student’s Association has a conference fund students can apply to – details can be found on their website.  Students in receipt of a Research Council studentship should consult the relevant award holders guide or the PGR Office (EFB 2.30) as to the application process.

Students in receipt of a studentship providing a Research, Training Support Grant (RTSG) should use this for attending conferences, purchasing books etc. relative to their study.  Access to School funding will not be provided for students who have RTSG available to them.

Payment of maintenance grants (stipends)

The payment of maintenance grants (stipends) to SSF postgraduate research students whose awards are paid via the University and not direct from the Funders are paid monthly in advance. Students receive the payment into their bank account (this must be a UK account) at the end of each month - i.e on or around the 28th.

Students need only complete one form with bank account details etc which will cover the whole of their studies - unless, of course, there is a change in the bank details originally supplied. Please note: if you wish to change your bank details or address, the information must be received by the PGR Office at least one month prior to the date you would expect to receive payment.
