The Centre for Research on Children and Families, founded in 1996, is in the forefront of research on vulnerable children, parenting and family change. It is an interdisciplinary centre located in UEA’s Schools of Social Work and Psychology in the Faculty of Social Sciences and has strong collaborations the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Norwich Business School. The Centre is co-directed by Professor Margaret O’Brien and Professor Gillian Schofield.
It is a member of global network of ChildWatch research institutions and carries out its work by means of research, training, and publications. It collaborates with government departments, children and family charities, non-governmental organisations, intergovernmental organisations and other universities. Our main research areas are: Child protection, Child placement, and Fathers, families and work.
The Centre is housed in the award-winning Elizabeth Fry Building on the main UEA campus on the outskirts of Norwich.
