The Social Worker of the Year Awards 2016.
June is internationally renowned for her research on children’s social care, which has covered family support and child protection services for children and families in the community, as well as services for children placed away from home.
June qualified as a social worker in 1963 and joined UEA in 1979. As founding Director of the Centre for Research on the Child and Family and of the Making Research Count collaboration, she has a particular interest in finding innovative ways of helping social workers to make appropriate use of knowledge from a range of sources in their practice. She was awarded the CBE ‘for services to social work’ in 2002.
Three SWK graduates also picked up awards at the ceremony:
- Emily Tiplady-Ead - Children’s Social Worker of the Year
- Bianca Lang - Overall Social Worker of the Year
- Francesca Rye - silver award for Children and Families Newly Qualified Social Worker of the Year
