UEA Student Wellbeing Team

The UEA Wellbeing Team is based in the Dean of Students' office, and aims to provide everyday support and advice to students about wellbeing and Mental Health Issues.  The team works closely with DOS' Disability Team, and is currently made up of 2 people:

 

Lydia Pell LYDIA PELL is UEA's Mental Health Co-ordinator.  Lydia gained a  BA (Hons) in Art and Psychology in 2002 from Chester University, and went on to work in learning disability and mental health before training as an Art Psychotherapist at the University of Western Sydney in 2007.  She has worked in a wide range of mental health areas including community, residential and hospital settings for eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction and general mental health needs.  Lydia joined the DOS team in 2010.  Click HERE to email her. 

Luke Jefferies DR. LUKE JEFFERIES is both a member of the Wellbeing and Disability teams within the Dean of Students' Office.  Luke trained at Surrey University and has worked in a range of settings including NHS clinical psychology units and specialist services in neuropsychology and learning disabilities.  He has an eclectic interest in all aspects of clinical psychology alongside a passion for hypnotherapy, NLP and life coaching, as well as a background in bipolar and eating disorders.  Luke supports students with a range of issues from stress through to severe physical or mental health conditions.  He often works with students who have Aspergers or similar conditions, fatigue conditions such as CFS, brain injury, epilepsy or those who are dealing with a chronic condition or having difficulty adjusting to or coping with a health condition.

Luke also often works with students with cultural or spiritual issues, and also offers specialised support to students from the LGBT community.

When not at work Luke has a passion for nature and the environment, science, archaeology and architecture.  He is a massive theme park and Disney and 80s animation fan.
