The Wellbeing Team exists to support the wellbeing (particularly in terms of Mental Health) of all UEA students. We are here to provide completely confidential advice on any wellbeing-related issues, and can be called upon to support and represent students who are applying for concessions and/or help with their studies. We deal with all sorts of issues, but can be particularly useful in the following ways:
* Giving advice on Disabled Students' Allowance applications for students with mental health difficulties
* Advising and representing students who wish to intercalate or repeat a year on mental health grounds
* Playing a part in assessing a student's fitness to study/practise on returning from intercalation
* Supporting students applying for exam/coursework/other academic concessions
* Discussing and supporting accommodation applications with 'special circumstances'
* Supporting car parking permit applications for students with disabilities
* Working with academic advisors to support students with any wellbeing and mental health issues
* Referring to and liaising with outside agencies (with the student's permission) on students' behalf
* General information, advice and guidance on all wellbeing issues - mental health, disability, alcohol, drugs, relationships, bereavement, healthy eating etc.
* Helping to set up self-help strategies
* Advising and referring students experiencing a mental health crisis
* Advising students who are worried about a friend or classmate
* Providing information about access to NHS services for overseas students
If you would like to book an appointment to speak confidentially with a member of the team, please either drop into the Dean of Students' Office or phone us on 01603 592761 or e-mail mentalhealth@uea.ac.uk
