Life at UEA

UEA is a campus University, on the western edge of Norwich, a very beautiful and lively historic city.  There are around 15,000 students studying a range of subjects in the Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Science and Health Faculties.  If you explore our Admissions pages, you will find out more about the range of courses we offer, our campus, and the city.

Many first year students live on campus in University Accommodation and there is also a wide range of private accommodation for students available within walking or biking distance of the campus.  In February each year, the Students' Union organise an accommodation event to help students who move off campus to find Union-accredited rooms or shared houses for the following academic year.

There is wide range of social, cultural, recreational and sporting activities available both on campus and in the city. Joining a club or society or taking part in one of the many voluntary activities organised by the Careers Centre can be a very good way for students to make friends with those who share similar interests.  Norwich itself offers facilities and events to cater for all interests, ranging from museums, art galleries, historic buildings, theatres, concert venues and cinemas to excellent shopping, restaurants, pubs and clubs.  There are also transport links to many of the beautiful coastal and rural areas of Norfolk and Suffolk.

Travel in and out of the city is very easy - there is a good bus service between the University and the railway station via the city centre throughout the day and most of the night and early morning.  Annual bus passes offering unlimited travel in the Norwich area cost only £180; this represents a very significant saving for most students.  Parking space on campus is at a premium, and in line with our ambition to be a 'low carbon campus' we discourage students for whom a car is not an absolute necessity from bringing one to Norwich.

Do encourage your student to take full advantage of all that UEA, Norwich and East Anglia have to offer.
