He delivers workshops and is available for 1-2-1 drop-ins and tutorial appointments on all aspects of study skills and academic writing. He has particular interests in writing for dissertations, theses and research proposals, editing practices, time management and presenting. He is looking forward to working with UEA staff and students in 2011-12, his first full academic year at the University.

Before taking up his current post Jeremy completed a PhD in the history of reading at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2008. He has studied in the UK and the US and has since held teaching, training and research posts at the universities of Cambridge, Sussex and London.

 Dr Robert Jenkins

Robert has been in position since October 2005 and has built strong relationships with BIO, CHE, PHA, DEV, ECO, ENV, NBS and NSC where he organises (and sometimes runs) workshop sessions for students with mathematical and statistical problems.  The rest of his week is made up of drop-in sessions and tutorials for individuals and small groups.

Robert undertook both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies here at UEA in the School of Chemistry.  Afterwards he worked for 3 years as a post-doctoral researcher in chemical physics, also at UEA.  During his post-graduate studies he was involved with the teaching of mathematics and science to undergraduates and also in community schools as part of community engagement.  He has a long standing, and important connection to the science foundation year.  Robert is involved in the peer-mentoring scheme in MTH and helps to train potential facilitators.

Recently Robert has taken an active interest in the use of technology in helping students understand the fundamentals of mathematics.  He has developed interactive mind-map environments in Prezi, recorded webcasts (hosted on his YouTube channel, robertjenkinsdoslet) and introduced the use or QR-codes into his teaching.

In 2007 Robert was awarded the Sir Geoffrey and Lady Allen Excellence in Teaching Award.  This prestigious UEA award was made largely on the basis of recommendations by students who have benefited from Robert's work as a Learning Enhancement Tutor.
