ENGLISH CLASSES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The English Language Support Programme (ELSP) aims to help UEA international students develop the English language skills necessary for successful academic study. The classes, which are free, are open to all students for whom English is not the first language.

The English Language Support Programme is now closed until the start of the next academic year (September 2012).
These classes provide guidance and practice in the writing skills which you need in order to produce clear, accurate expression of meaning in written work. The classes aim to help you to understand the required standards and expectations of your Schools and to provide support in meeting them. There are separate classes for undergraduate and postgraduate postgraduate students.

These classes aim to develop faster, more critical reading skills in order to help you to deal better with the requirements of reading at University. You will develop an overall awareness of how academic texts are structured and be able to use what you learn to read such texts more effectively.

These classes aim to help you read more effectively and quickly by improving your understanding of the kind of language which is commonly found in academic texts.

SPEAKING IN ACADEMIC SITUATIONS
These classes aim to help you to develop the skills and language you need to communicate and interact effectively in university seminars, presentations and other academic contexts.

These classes provide technical knowledge and practice in the sound system of spoken English, using a variety of techniques including contrast between English and other languages, the relationship between sound and spelling, and activities to practise understanding and spoken fluency.

These classes will focus on developing the listening skills you need in order to make the most of academic situations such as lectures and seminars. A key aim is to help you to recognize the vocabulary and phrases which speakers use to indicate the organization of and relationship between the ideas they are expressing.

Please note: Classes are open to registered UEA students only. They are not open to dependants of UEA students nor students from INTO UEA.
