The International Student Advisory Team (ISAT) develops an exciting social programme for international students each year, giving you the opportunity to visit new places, try new activities and meet other students. Activities include visits to cities across England, trips to interesting places in Norwich and Norfolk and events on campus.
The Dean of Students' Office (DOS) Social Programme is a non-profit service. All trips and events ticket prices are at the very minimum to cover the cost of the trip. This mean you get the full benefit of group rates and shared travel costs, making our trips affordable and very cheap for you.
Tickets do sell out very fast, so as soon as they go on sale make sure to buy yours, so you are not disappointed. When buying tickets please bring cash and correct change. Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable. Tickets are sold from the Dean of Students' Office.
We are always open to suggestions for trip or feedback from previous trips, please email any thoughts to: isat@uea.ac.uk

North Norfolk Seal Boat & Cromer Day Trip
Leave UEA at 9.00am and return by 6.00pm
First we will be heading to the North Norfolk Coast to take a boat trip to see a colony of seals. Make sure you dress warm and with a rain jacket in case it rains or you get sprayed. And of course bring your cameras.

This is one of the last trips of this academic year. We are going to Cromer, one of the best seaside resort towns in Norfolk. Cromer has a fabulous beach, great pier, famous fish & chips shop of Mary Jane’s, crabbing for delicious Cromer crabs, a great seaside hike, and even surfing. So bring your swim suite, beach towel, and sun screen (or maybe your walking boots and a rain jacket depending on the weather) for this great day out.
Things to do when at Cromer:
Explore the village of Cromer
Relax on the beach
Have fun on the Pier with games
Swim in the North Sea
Take a surfing lesion
Get fish & chips
Take a hike on the beach and return on the sea cliffs.
For more information about Cromer including picture visit http://www.tournorfolk.co.uk/cromer.html

Blickling Hall Trip
We will then go to Blickling Hall, which is one of the best National Trust Estates in Norfolk. You will have access to the house, gardens, shop, and cafe to get a hot drink after the cold boat ride. Have a look around at the grand house and stroll through gardens and around the lake.
London and Tower of London Daytrip
Leave UEA at 7.00am from the main bus stop
Leave London at 4.00pm (we will return to UEA around 7.00pm)
We will leave UEA early in the morning at 7.00am, so be there at least 5 to 10 minutes early. We will have a short 15 minute break at about 9.00am to use the toilet and to get a quick tea or coffee. We will then head into London and will be dropped off near the Tower of London and we will go there directly. We will need to enter as a group, but after that you are free to explore the Tower and do what you want for the rest of the day.
We will meet at the coach at 3.45pm. The coach will leave at 4.00pm, so it is important that you are there in time. We will not stop for a break on the way home, and we will be back at UEA around 7.00pm. So you may wish to bring something to eat on the coach. Also it is up to you if you want to buy food in London or bring a lunch with you.
The Tower of London has much to see, including the Crown Jewels! The Tower is full of history, from a fortress, to a prison, to a medieval palace, with executions, beheadings, scandals, ravens, and an exhibition of royal armouries with the Kings of England’s suits of armour, including King Henry VIII. You can hire an audio guide in different languages for about £3 or £4.
We will be in the centre of London on the River Thames. You can easily walk to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, #10 Downing Street (home of the Prime Minister), to Buckingham Palace, the changing of the guards, and much much more. So do a little planning and bring a good map and make the most of your afternoon. There are also many free museums including the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square which has a great collect of Leonardo de Vinci.
London is a big city and you may find something you want to do. If you want to stay in London and return to Norwich later or if you miss our coach, you can get back to Norwich by train from Liverpool Street Station or by bus at the Victoria Coach Station. On the back of your ticket will be a number to call in case of an emergency.
The price of your ticket includes transportation to and from London and entrance to the Tower of London. With all of our trips, it will be difficult to find a cheaper price. Get your ticket as soon as possible as tickets do sell out very fast.
Canoe Trip in Norfolk
It is a 2 - 2 1/2 hour trail along a local river, discovering hidden areas inaccessible by foot. The trail starts at Bawburgh, were the group will transfer into Canadian canoes taking two or three people, the journey is downstream and it an ideal opportunity to encounter wildlife - kingfishers, herons and maybe the elusive otter. The journey finishes in Earlham Park.
Cost includes transport to start, canoe hire, buoyancy aid and paddle.
Meet at the Zicer Building at 1.45pm.
Tickets are available in the Dean of Students’ Office. Cash only and correct change is preferred. Tickets are non-refundable.
Ickworth House and Oxburgh Hall National Trust Trip
Leave UEA at 10.00am and will return at 6.00pm
Both of these historical properties in the East of England are preserved by the National Trust. The National Trust is a charity that works to preserve and protect building, countryside and coastlines to open them up to the public. We will be visiting these 2 beautiful places. First will be Ickworth House where we will spend some time. This is where you can eat lunch, so bring a pack lunch or you can buy food and drinks from the café. Next is a short ride to Oxburgh Hall before returning back to UEA in time for dinner.
Ickworth House
The 4th Earl of Bristol, who built this magnificent showcase to house his priceless treasures, collected on his tours around Europe in the 18th century. For 200 years the infamous and eccentric Hervey family continued to add to the treasures inside and out, creating the first and finest Italianate garden in England. Learn about the servants and workers who kept this country estate running and share their memories in the true story of 'upstairs-downstairs' domestic life in our innovative redisplaying of the basement servants' quarters.

Oxburgh Hall
No one ever forgets their first sight of Oxburgh. A romantic, moated manor house, it was built by the Bedingfeld family in the 15th century and they have lived here ever since. Inside, the family's Catholic history is revealed, complete with a secret priest's hole which you can crawl inside. See the astonishing needlework by Mary, Queen of Scots, and the private chapel, built with reclaimed materials. Outside, you can enjoy panoramic views from the gatehouse roof and follow the woodcarving trails in the gardens and woodlands.
