What is a Healthy University?
Health is determined by a complex interplay of environmental, behavioural and organisational factors. These pages are intended to bring together many of the diverse initiatives across the campus in the areas of health and well-being (including sexual health, mental health, food, exercise and drug and alcohol use, etc) and sustainability initiatives that relate to health (including travel, food and campus design).
The Healthy and Sustainable UEA group follows a holistic approach towards enhancing good health in the University community and supports action that ensures a sustainable living, working and learning environment. It consists of interested parties from across the University community, bringing together and promoting activity to encourage both staff and students to improve and maintain a positive state of well being and sustainable living. We aim to promote some of the many opportunities already available to staff and students on and beyond the campus, as well as highlight new opportunities to experience throughout the year.
Browse through the left hand menu for information on some of the key elements that comprise a healthy and sustainable UEA.
The Healthy and Sustainable UEA group welcomes new members. These web pages will have new information and links will develop as work continues. If you would like to get involved or have a suggestion, please contact healthyuea@uea.ac.uk
"health is created and lived by people within the settings of their everyday life; where they learn, work, play and love" (WHO: Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, 1986).
