Vice-Chancellor's Hardship Fund

If you are experiencing a temporary cash flow problem or face a financial emergency, you may be eligible for a short-term, interest-free cash loan from the Vice-Chancellor’s Hardship Fund.  Any UEA student may apply but a loan will only be made if you can show how you will be able to repay the loan.  Vice-Chancellor’s Hardship Loans are not suitable for addressing long-term problems.

You may borrow any amount between £5 and £200.  If you first borrow a small amount and find you need more, you can apply again until you reach the £200 maximum.  If you need to borrow more than £200, you must discuss your request with one of the financial advisers in the Dean of Students’ Office.  The maximum available from the fund is £300 but we will look at whether there are other ways of helping you if your difficulties are exceptional.

If you have a financial problem which you would like to discuss before applying for a loan, please call in and see on of the financial advisers in the Dean of Students’ Office who will be happy to discuss your situation.  They can also be contacted by e-mail (fac@uea.ac.uk) or by telephone (01603 593184 or 01603 593290).

Application forms are available from the Dean of Students’ Office.
