The UEA Fairtrade Steering Group was set up and met for its first meeting in November 2007.  This was as a direct result of the request at the end of the academic year 2006/07 by the students for UEA to push for Fairtrade status.

The Group is made up of the following:

• The SU Ethical Issues Officer
• The SU Finance Officer
• The Head of Communications (Chair)
• The Head of Food and Hospitality Services (CAT)
• Dr Ed Anderson (DEV)
• The Student Services Manager (Secretary)

The Group meets at least once a term.  As a result of the meetings, the Fairtrade policy was established.

Now that UEA has achieved Fairtrade status, the Group will continue to meet once a term to discuss ideas to coninue to raise awareness of Fairtrade and ensure the University does all it can to maintain the Fairtrade status.
