Our most general computing science degree (G400) gives you a solid understanding of the theory behind computing science, and also gives you a wide variety of options to select from. We have two variants of this degree which allow you to spend your second year at a University in either North America or Australasia (G404), or a Year in Industry (G401) which involves a work placement in Year 3. However, if a work placement is unavailable, students may continue to the third year of the BSc Computing Science (G400).
Our more specialised degrees allow you to focus on a particular area of computing. For example, if you have particular interests in both the software and hardware sides of computing, then the Computer Systems Engineering degree (HG65) will allow you to specialise in this area. Similarly, if you have interests in the creative side of computing through the use of images, video, music, film and TV, then Computing Science, Imaging and Multimedia (G450) will enable you to pursue this. If you wish to develop a deep understanding of the internet, databases, computer networks, etc, the Software Engineering Computing degree (G600) will provide this knowledge.
Our Business Information Systems degree (GN54) combines computing science with business and management. The amount of time spent between these disciplines is determined by the student to give a flexible degree structure.
We firmly believe that each student will have their own individual interests and career aspirations. As such we allow considerable flexibility into our degrees that allow you to tailor your degree to your interests through the wide selection of options that are available.
