‘I am delighted to welcome you to the Science Graduate School within the Faculty of Science at UEA. The Faculty of Science has a long and well-deserved international reputation for research excellence. We continually attract some of the best academics in the world, and many have become leaders in their fields.
Postgraduate students are a vital part of a research intensive university. They contribute to the intellectual vitality and vibrancy of the institutions as they learn, grow and develop. Today’s postgraduates could be tomorrow’s postdoctoral research fellows and potential Nobel Prize winners of the next decade.
For these reasons, the Science Faculty has decided to give an even higher priority to the needs of postgraduate research students, and the creation of the Science Graduate School is the first step towards this.
The aims of the Science Graduate School are to provide a resource for postgraduate students, to ensure that:
The Graduate School supports, administers and coordinates training for the MSc, MPhil and PhD programmes in the Sciences at UEA. We aim to promote a stimulating research environment that is underpinned through a dedicated training programme for all science postgraduate students. We hope that the formation of the Science Postgraduate Study Centre will help to foster a community spirit.’
