ResNet is a contact, support and information network for women working in research at the University of East Anglia, The John Innes Centre and The Institute of Food research. We welcome all women in research. This includes: PhD and MSc students, research staff, postdoctoral researchers, research fellows, technicians, research assistants, others in research support roles and those in project leader or faculty positions.

Goals

The aims of ResNet are:

• promoting career development.
• providing inspiration, information and support.
• raising awareness about equal opportunities.
• bringing together women researchers with common interests.

The aims of the ResNet committee are therefore:

·         To ensure that the aims of ResNet are met by organising regular events (e.g. training,

career or equal opportunities information, presentations from inspirational women etc)

·         To ensure that most of these events include a networking opportunity session.

·         To ensure that all events are advertised widely at UEA and the institutes, and further afield when appropriate.

·         To ensure that a website and mailing list are maintained. The mailing list will be used to alert women to ResNet events and other opportunities that may be of benefit.

·         To ensure a range of events that will be of interest to the wide variety of researchers at UEA and the Institutes and that meet the needs of researchers from MSc to Professor.

·         To ensure that all events are delivered within the annual ResNet budget.

Deliverables

·         A schedule of 4 to 6 events per calendar year.

·         Additional events, including social events where feasible.

Resources and budget

·         £2000 from UEA Executive Team.  Support from JIC and IFR for institute-based ResNet events  promised verbally but no specific budget as yet

·         Up to one day per week of administrative support from CSED 

·         Time of Committee members for committee meetings, email correspondence and event organisation.

Governance

Decisions are to be made with the general  consensus of the committee
