Breakfast Social
Tuesday 21st February
08.30 - 10.00
Thomas Paine Study Centre Room 0.1
This breakfast meeting is an opportunity to informally network with women researchers across Norwich Research park. We are keen to raise the profile of ResNet – one way to do this would be for ResNet to nominate a number of prominent women for honorary degrees at UEA. This is an opportunity for you to come along and suggest possible nominees as well as have some breakfast before work!
Continental breakfast included
ResNet ‘fizz’ Social
When: Thursday 17th November 2011, 1600-1800.
Venue: Floor zero coffee room, School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, Directions below**
RSVP: Sarah Payne e-mail s.payne@uea.ac.uk, telephone 01603 593269 (for catering purposes)
This academic year we will be continuing our trial of occasional ResNet ‘social’ events at varying times of day. On 17th November join us in the late afternoon for a glass of Prosecco, nibbles and networking..
We will celebrate the fact that the University of East Anglia became a member of the Athena Swan Charter on 19th October 2011 with a view to applying for award(s). (http://www.athenaswan.org.uk/html/athena-swan/news/). This move became necessary due to an August 2011 announcement from the National Institute for Health Research who will no longer shortlist any NHS/university partnership for Biomedical Research Centre and Biomedical Research Unit funding unless the academic institution holds at least a silver award from the Athena SWAN Charter for Women in Science (see http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=26&storycode=417209&c=1).
There will be a chance to make anonymous comments re whether you think your department measure up to the Athena Principles both during the fizz social and by email (principles are listed at http://www.athenaswan.org.uk/html/athena-swan/about-the-charter/principles/).
