Gill Malin (Chair)
School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia.
Gill has been a Reader in Biological Oceanography in the School of Environmental Sciences at UEA since July 2009. She did her degree and PhD at the University of Liverpool and also worked at the University of Bristol and Case Western Reserve University (Ohio, USA). She established the Marine Trace Gas Biology lab at UEA whilst working on two 5-year NERC Advanced Research Fellowships Gill attended the very 1st ResNet meeting in 2000 and has been actively involved for several years. http://researchpages.net/people/gill-malin/

Haya Al-Dajani
Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia.
Also leads Women, Research and Enterprise Forum (WREF).
Haya is a lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at the Norwich Business School at UEA. She completed her PhD at the University of Strathclyde in 2007 and prior to that was a Senior Fulbright Scholar in Residence at California State University, Stainslaus, and Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia. At UEA, Haya chairs the Women, Research and Enterprise Forum (WREF) and is the Norwich Business School’s Associate Director for Enterprise, Engagement and External Relations. She is a co-founder of the Gender and Enterprise Network – ISBE’s special interest group and is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship and the Journal of Family Business Management.

Tori Cann
School of Political, Social and International Studies, University of East Anglia.
Tori is a Lecturer in Media and Politics in the School of Political, Social and International Studies. Alongside her teaching, Tori is mid-way through her PhD which explores the performance of gender in youth cultures, where she seeks to make sense of the ways in which gender is reproduced through the regulation of cultural taste articulations. Her main research interests lie in feminism, gender politics and youth cultures, but is keen to explore identity politics more broadly. As well as being a committee member for ResNet, she is also a member of the Feminist and Women’s Studies Association.

Sarah Field
School of Biological Sciences, University of East Anglia
Sarah did her degree and PhD at UEA and has been a researcher on contracts since Oct 2000. She is currently working part-time researcher on a large collaborative project to develop a bio fuel by fermenting crop wastes such as straw. She was 1st introduced to ResNet by her colleague Karin Gronberg who was involved in setting up the network and has attended meetings off and on since 2001.

Tharin Blumenschein
School of Chemistry, University of East Anglia
Tharin studied Molecular Sciences as an undergraduate at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry at the same institution. From there, she spent 5 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, in Canada, then moved to the UK in 2005 and was a postdoctoral research associate at Imperial College for 2 years. Tharin joined UEA in 2007, as a Lecturer in Biomolecular NMR spectroscopy in the School of Chemistry, and uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to look at the dynamics and structure of proteins.

Heather Savigny

I am a senior lecturer in politics. I research around the areas of British politics, media and politics/political communication; political analysis and methodology; the history of the discipline. My favourite author at the moment is Naomi Klein.

Hannah Bowyer
School of Law
Hannah did her degree at Warwick University, and then went on to do a postgraduate diploma. She is now taking an MRes in Social Science Research Methods at the Law School, and is hoping to start a Phd in October 2012. She recently finished working at Warwick Business School, and has previously worked in research for the UK Centre for Legal Education and for the criminal justice charity UserVoice. Hannah also currently works for the Dean of Students Office at UEA as a Senior Resident.

Samantha Fox
John Innes Centre
Sam did her degree in the school of biological sciences at UEA and then went on to complete a masters degree by research thanks to a scholarship from The Sainsbury Laboratory. She is now a researcher at the John Innes centre where her current interests are the study of plant growth and development. Sam has recently become a champion for equality and diversity at JIC and is involved in several educational outreach activities particularly the Year 10 Science Camp.

Gwénaëlle Le Gall
Metabolomics Group, part of the Analytical Science Unit (ASU) at the Institute of Food Research
Gwenaelle studied organic chemistry and analytical chemistry in Nantes University, France and obtained a PhD in analytical chemistry at the University of East Anglia. She has managed the metabolomics platform at IFR since 2010. A metabolomics study consists in profiling metabolites in biological extracts (animal/mammalian, plants and microbes) using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or Mass Spectrometry (MS) followed by multivariate statistics analysis and an interpretation of the results.

Andrea Rippon

Andrea works part time as a Staff Development Officer for Research Staff, in RS Connect, CSED (www.uea.ac.uk/csed/rsconnect). She designs and delivers development activities, along with core professional skills training; and is the UEA ‘Every Researcher Counts’ Champion (www.vitae.ac.uk). Andrea was an Associate Tutor with EDU for 12 years, prior to this post, and was a Course Director of the Certificate in Counselling Skills. Her academic interest lies in the person centred approach and its application to organisational settings. She has her own training, development and consultancy business (www.whoareyounow.co.uk) and is part of the Write Out Loud team, which delivers personal and professional development courses through creative writing. She is a Parent Governor at Avenue Junior School and a Trustee of Community Music East Ltd, a social enterprise which offers opportunities through music and multi-media.
