UEA's research quality confirmed
The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise have confirmed the University of East Anglia as one of the leading research institutions in the UK.
Outstanding performances have placed History of Art, Film Studies, American Studies and International Development in the top three in the country, with Environmental Sciences and Pharmacy in the top ten.
Over 50 per cent of the University’s research activity was deemed to be world leading or internationally excellent with 87% in total being of international standing.
"We have significantly advanced our international research reputation as well as its scale and impact since 2001 when the last RAE was conducted," said Professor Trevor Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for research.
"This resounding vote of confidence in our innovative research is excellent news for the region. We continue to set the agenda internationally in many disciplines, thanks to the outstanding quality and hard work of our staff."
Thanks to UEA and its Norwich Research Park partners, the city has one of the greatest concentrations of ‘most highly cited researchers’ in the UK, and is worth millions to the local economy.
Further information will be posted on this page over the coming weeks as detailed analysis is carried out and the implications for national research policy and funding become clear.
