The Mark V Williams Postgraduate Scholarship

The Mark V Williams Postgraduate Scholarship is open to students who have applied to study a Taught Masters course in the School of History. The Scholarship shall contribute to the recipient's full course fees for a 12 month period.

Rules

  1. There shall be an annual Scholarship to be known as the Mark V Williams Postgraduate Scholarship. The purpose of the Scholarship is to enable a student to study a Taught Masters course offered by the School of History.
  2. Students ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom who are eligible to pay fees at the Home/EU rate are eligible to apply. The Scholarship shall contribute to the recipient's full course fees for a 12 month period. This assumes that the fee costs remain at the levels set for September 2010 to include an inflationary increase at 2.04%. In a situation where course fees escalate above that level the Scholarship will become a part rather than a full award.
  3. One new Scholarship will be available every year. The scholarship shall be awarded on a competitive basis and will become payable on completion of registration of the successful applicant.
  4. Details of the Mark V Williams Postgraduate Scholarship will be publicised to all eligible students with appropriate information on selection criteria, application timescales and value of award.
  5. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Associate Deans for Research and for Learning, Teaching and Quality in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
  6. The Scholarship shall not be divided. In the event that there are two or more candidates who are deemed to be of equal merit, the Scholarship shall not be divided and the Selection Committee will decide upon the winner based upon interviews with each candidate.
  7. If in any year, no candidate is judged to be of sufficient merit, the Scholarship shall not be awarded. No person will be awarded a Scholarship more than once.
