A £3,000 scholarship is available biennially starting in 2011/12 to encourage a student to study any postgraduate taught or postgraduate research programme in the School of American Studies.
Rules
- There shall be a Scholarship awarded biennially, commencing in the academic session 2011-12, to be known as the Lightfoot Marketing Scholarship in American Studies. The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage a student to study any postgraduate taught or postgraduate research programme offered by the School of American Studies.
- The value of the Scholarship shall be £3,000, which shall be payable for the first year of the course only.
- The Scholarship shall be awarded on a competitive basis and will become payable on completion of registration of the successful applicant.
- Details of the Scholarship will be publicised to all eligible students with appropriate information on selection criteria, application timescales and value of award.
- The Scholarship will be awarded by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Associate Deans for Admissions, for Research and for Learning, Teaching and Quality in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
- If two candidates are judged to be of sufficient and equal merit, the prize may be divided. There shall be a maximum of two winners in any one year.
- If no candidate is judged to be of sufficient merit, the prize shall not be awarded.
- The winning candidate(s) shall be required to attend an event for publicity purposes.
