Information about Degree Congregation

Congregation is the ceremony for the conferment (where your award is bestowed upon you) of University Awards during which the award of Degrees, Diplomas & Certificates is undertaken. You are not entitled to describe yourself as holding a degree or other qualification granted by the University unless that qualification has been conferred at a Congregation, either in person or in absentia.

Winter Congregation takes place in February and only allows you to receive your Parchment in absentia (by post) and you would not have the option to attend a ceremony at any point in the future for the same award.

Summer Congregation takes place in July and gives you the option to have your award conferred at the ceremony in person OR in absentia (by post).

Am I eligible?

You will only be eligible to receive your award if your name has appeared on a pass list approved by the University's Senate before the appropriate deadline. Compensatory Diplomas and Certificates are awarded 'in absentia' and posted to recipients.

The University's General Regulation Six regarding Payment of Accounts states that "No degree, diploma or other qualification shall be conferred upon any person who has not fulfilled all financial obligations to the University." It is your responsibility to ensure that your account with the University is settled in full before the appropriate deadline.

How do I register?

In order for you to receive your award you have to register your intentions with regard to how you wish to have your award conferred by going to http://evision.uea.ac.uk and completing the online registration process (clicking on the 'Graduation Registration' tab), as awards are not automatically conferred on your behalf.

Should you find that your normal evision log in has been disabled (usually as a consequence of having already left UEA) please contact the Congregation Office by email congregation@uea.ac.uk or by telephone +44 (0) 1603 592775.
