Room Booking Office

Welcome to the home page for the Room Booking Office. The office is located in the Registry building, and is part of the Planning Office function of the University.

The Room Booking Office deals with all ad hoc and teaching room booking requests that require a central pool room.

Please see relevant links for various aspects of timetabling and room booking, however, to ensure that teaching spaces remain in good order would you please observe the following basic principles and policies.

Basic Principles and Policies

Teaching Timetable:

The teaching day commences at 9:00am and runs into the evenings. Whilst rooms for teaching are generally booked by the hour, students and academic staff should note that teaching sessions, unless stated otherwise, should start and finish at the following times:

• Modules starting in the morning and running up to 13:00, will start on the hour and finish at 50 minutes past the hour.
• Modules starting after 13:00 will start at 10 minutes past the hour and finish on the hour.
• These start and end times guarantee a minimum 20 minute break (12:50 – 13:10) in the middle of the day for staff and students whose sessions straddle the lunchtime period.

Note: Please make sure that you regularly check your timetable as modules running in different Schools may appear at different times and changes may have to be made after the timetables are first released. Timetables can be checked via the “Room Booking” link.

Furniture:

Please do not remove any furniture or AV equipment from central teaching rooms. If it is necessary to move tables or chairs, please ensure they are returned at the end of your session.

Food and Drink:

If you consume food and/or drink during your event, please ensure that the venue is clear and tidy when you finish your session.

Whiteboards:

Please use Drywipe pens only. Permanent maker pens can cause permanent damage.

Personal Belongings:

Please do not leave personal belongings unattended at any time. The University cannot accept responsibility for personal belongings that are damaged or stolen.
