What our students say

Rosalie Collis, Year 3, English Literature and Philosophy student.

Ruth Collis It took one walk around the campus on a visit day three years ago to make me fall in love with UEA. Then I went to the philosophy talk, and met with my future lecturers. Through my two years as a philosophy and literature student here, I have been able to pursue a wide range of interests from Wittgenstein to Shakespeare. The thing that makes the philosophy department so appealing is their approachability, lecturers always respond to emails of students and will do anything within their power to help!

The city is another reason that I’m deeply in love with UEA, Norwich provides anything you could need, two shopping centres as well as more cafes and bars then you could ever want. Philosophy has allowed me to organise their society, be a representative to their students and meet so many new people. The friendliness of the faculty is more then I could have wished for when applying for UEA and has made my experience so much better!

Joanna Paterson, Year 1, English Literature and Philosophy student.

Joanna Paterson I am a first year Philosophy and English Literature student and I am not going to say that originally it was my first choice to come to UEA, but then I visited the campus and Norwich itself and I havent looked back yet. I am not the most conventional student, living off campus from the beginning (with a cat and dog obviously), however that never seemed to matter as I was never short of friends or activities.

UEA is fabulous as a university because of its balance between study and party. With three bars and a club on campus and several fun places in town you're pretty set, just make sure you dont forget your fancy dress at home! You are hard pushed to get bored and most people find it hard to leave as the courses are enticing and the teachers never let you down as they all have a genuine passion for their subject - at least that is what I have found... The societies are also a great bonus as there is such a diverse range, for instance, I am part of the knitting society and will be an intern to READ next year, and am planning to join pole dancing in september!

This university is one that becomes engrained into you, there is literally something for everyone and there is always a place to get some peace either by the lake, in one of the thousands of churches or just in your local! Also you can't help but get healthy as when the sun is out it's hard to resist a walk through the shops!!!!
