Speedy Asthma Medication at Norfolk Futures event
Students from a range of high schools in North East Norfolk attended the North East Norfolk Futures Event held at Paston Sixth Form College in early July. The event is designed to inspire and motivate students to research their future career goals.
Dr Rosemary Norton from the School of Pharmacy and Dr Sean Thurston from the Royal Society of Chemistry were in attendance to advise the students about careers in Chemistry and Pharmacy.
Students had fun making models of different asthma medications out of pipe cleaners against the clock with the added incentive of chocolate for the fastest time!
After a busy day, the winning times were students from Flegg High School making Salbutamol in just 1 minute 51 seconds, and North Walsham High School producing Salmeterol in 2 minutes and 8 seconds.
