In the RAE 2008 exercise, UEA Pharmacy came 6th in the rankings of all schools of Pharmacy, despite the exercise spanning and amassing evidence from activity going back to 2001, well before the Pharmacy school at UEA was even founded.

Our profile achieved by the school is 15% 4*, 40% 3*, 30% 2* and 15% 1* activity, placing us as the top new school of Pharmacy in the UK. The School of Pharmacy’s research is highly innovative in its’ breadth of topics. All aspects of Pharmacy-related research are covered - from molecular pharmacology and drug design, pharmaceutic technology and process, through to professional practice, service and health policy research. Our School’s research strengths encompass the totality of investigations into all aspects of drugs and pharmaceuticals.

Pharmaceutical Research within the Schools of Pharmacy and Chemistry represents a unique collaborative venture that has both depth in its individual areas as well as breadth in terms of the collaborations outlined below. The research is managed as follows. In the first instance, pharmacy is composed of four themes that are administrative in structure and focused on established pharmaceutical and related subject matter.

Research is cross-departmental and cross-institutional with collaboration and cooperation with Schools across UEA (particularly Biology, Chemistry and Faculty of Health) as well as the research institutes throughout the Norwich Research Park (John Innes Centre, Institute of Food Research, Norfolk and Norwich Hospital).
