As part of the RAG (Raising and Giving) society Tasnima Sultana and Harkamal Cheema have been selling donuts to raise money for Childreach International.
Tasima says "as part of fundraising, we sold freshly made Krispy Kreme doughnuts in December (which we picked up that morning from London!). We got some of the lecturers involved in ordering doughnuts which turned into a little bit of a competition. Professor Searcey brought the most, followed by Professor Wright and Dr McDermott, altogether we raised £525.24 from the doughnut sale."
The RAG (Raising and Giving) society raises money every year for charities, including Childreach International (http://www.childreach.org.uk/). Childreach International is a UK registered charity that was set up in 2004 with a vision to help achieve ‘a world where all children have the opportunity to unlock their full potential in life’. They work in partnership with local communities across the globe to help children and youth have access to healthcare, education, child rights and protection. In the last 12 months, the organisation has grown rapidly and they now have offices in Tanzania, India, Nepal and Bangladesh to help developing communities at a grass roots level.
As an additional method of fundraising, Tasnima and Harkamal are also signed up to do the Great Wall of China trek in June with other students from UEA. We wish them both all the best for their fundraising. In the mean time, Tasnima and Harkamal will be selling donuts again on Thursday the 26th January.
