The UEA School of Pharmacy had another notable year in 2011. We were once again the top School of Pharmacy in many University League tables, or second top in the rest.
Our National Student Survey (NSS) overall satisfaction rate has remained at 100% or 99% in all the years of our eligibility. A remarkable and envious feat for any School of Pharmacy. We had more welcome staff news in recruiting onto the academic staff the services of our colleagues Francesca Baldelli-Bombelli, Lesley Howell, Yaroslav Khimyak and Vicky Sherwood. Welcome to all. It is also a delight to welcome Ganesan onto the academic staff, who still continues to spread confusion throughout Norwich by only having one name.
Another momentous occurrence was the turnover of Head of School to Prof Mark Searcey. Mark took over from Duncan Craig who has continuously acted as Head of School since UEA Pharmacy’s creation way, way back in 2003. Duncan has delivered a mammoth amount for us and he takes a thoroughly deserved ‘rest’ – although, anyone who knows Duncan will know that the word isn’t actually in his vocabulary. Thank you Duncan.
Our undergraduate student numbers have remained steady, our number of postgraduates has risen significantly once more and we have seen these further increases in staffing levels. Our students have enjoyed notable success in both their placements when they leave UEA School of Pharmacy and in their chosen endeavours. We have a very healthy student Alumni body, who grow as a very large but connected family. Our staff have continued to publish their research in the top journals within their fields. Plus we have seen a healthy influx of external research funding into the School to serve our future research needs.
All the indices bode well for the School’s future.
