Nursing and Midwifery Council
The NMC is an organisation set up by Parliament to ensure nurses, midwives and health visitors provide high standards of care to their patients and clients. The core function of the NMC is to establish and improve standards of nursing, midwifery and health visiting care in order to serve and protect the public. The successor body of the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (UKCC).

Department of Health
The home page of the Department of Health. 'Our aim is to improve the health and well-being of people in England. Here you will find the latest on the Department's work, as well as health and social care guidance, publications and policy.' NMAP (Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions)
NMAP is a gateway to evaluated, quality Internet resources, aimed at students, researchers, academics and practitioners in the health and medical sciences. NMAP is created by a core team of information specialists and subject experts coordinated at the University of Nottingham Greenfield Medical Library. NMAP is a partnership between the University of Nottingham, the University of Sheffield, and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).

OMNI (Organising Medical Networked Information)
OMNI is a gateway to evaluated, quality Internet resources in health and medicine, aimed at students, researchers, academics and practitioners in the health and medical sciences. Created by a core team of information specialists and subject experts based at the University of Nottingham Greenfield Medical Library, in partnership with key organisations throughout the UK and further afield.

Hundreds of UK nursing jobs, daily clinical news, and a searchable archive of articles from the UK's leading nursing magazine

Nursing Standard Magazine
'The UK's leading Nursing weekly. The professional home for Nurses on the net.' Editorial, news stories, jobs/careers, professional resources, 'links to the best nursing sites on the net', courses, events/listings and details of RCN Publishing's other nursing journals many of which have their own websites to which there are links.

MedWeb
A site of links and resources run by the School of Medicine at Birmingham University.

MIDIRS
MIDIRS (Midwives Information and Resource Service) is an educational charity set up in 1985 and based in Bristol. 'Our mission is to be the central source of information relating to childbirth and to disseminate this information to midwives and others, both nationally and internationally, thereby assisting them to improve maternity care'. A range of services including links, daily news articles and a Midwifery Digest gathered from international journals and commissioned articles.

EpiNet
The website of the Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria, Australia. The Epilepsy Foundation is the state affiliate of Epilepsy Australia, the national coalition of Australian epilepsy associations. Internet resources for Nurses, including links to information on using the net and search engines, health-related search engines, Nursing sites on the web, clinical speciality sites, latest medical headlines and library catalogues. Death and Dying
American site. 'This site provides a means of support and information for anyone who is impacted by the end of life. The information here is presented in an objective manner, and concerns all aspects of death, including traditional views on grieving and more contemporary ideas such as NDE's (Near Death Experiences) and euthanasia (assisted suicide)'.
