The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UEA and the schools within the Faculty (School of Nursing Sciences; Allied Health Professions; Medicine) wish to develop a more co-ordinated approach to involving service users, patients and carers in developing and improving our programmes. We recognise that service user, patient and carer involvement in health care education is a powerful means of improving services that may be available to a wide range of individuals and groups in society.
Many service users already provide valued support in ‘learning & teaching’ initiatives for various programmes across the Faculty. This often involves ‘hands-on’ work (e.g. lectures; face-to-face training; conferences etc). We would like to work towards service user, patient and carer involvement in a greater range of activities at a more ‘strategic’ level – for example, review of programmes and curriculum content; selection processes for applicants to the programmes; student evaluation.
We are keen to hear from individuals and support groups from different backgrounds.
